The closing event of this year’s July Summer Garden belongs to Summer History Lesson, a chronological journey through the evolution of hip hop—from its pioneering beginnings in the 1980s all the way to today’s global trap era.

Expect a carefully curated timeline of the culture, decade by decade, delivered by five DJs—each representing a different chapter in hip hop history.

You’ll also hear tracks from some of this year’s Gala Hala guests, including Grandmaster Flash, who joins us on October 9, Xzibit, whose show at Kino Šiška had us bouncing back in May, and Immortal Technique, finally making his long-awaited Gala Hala debut on October 17.

Whether you’re here to dance, dig deep into hip hop history, discover forgotten classics, or simply enjoy the soundtrack with friends, Summer History Lesson has you covered.

After last year’s Gala Banquet drew a massive crowd to Gala Hala and left behind a trail of stories that kept circulating around the city for weeks, Zlati gol returns this year even bolder, brighter, and more unpredictable. On the first Saturday of August, we once again take over Gala Hala, transforming it into a palace of excess, celebration, and dance for one unforgettable night.

The evening begins at 8 PM in the Summer Garden with a carefully curated selection by the Banketmantel Selectors, accompanied by generous snacks, full glasses, and the laid-back atmosphere of a warm summer evening under the open sky. The festivities will also be broadcast live on Radio Študent, carrying the spirit of the night far beyond the borders of Metelkova. When midnight strikes, we move inside Gala Hala—and happily lose all contact with reality.

The Zlati gol crew—comfortably the country’s worst radio show—invites friends, familiar faces, loyal party companions, and curious newcomers alike to celebrate another season of golden moments together. Every year, the Gala Banquet brings together an eclectic mix of dancers, spectators, comedians, influencers, and incurable late-night conversationalists, remaining the kind of place where small people come up with big ideas.

Long ago, the Zlati Gol Gala Banquet outgrew the idea of being just another party—it became a tradition. Every year, it’s not only the BPM that rise, but also the ambition to create a night people keep talking about long after the lights come on. Those who show up become part of the story. Those who don’t will almost certainly hear about it.

In case of rain, the Gala Banquet will move indoors without hesitation, transforming into an explosive club night starting at 10 PM.

This summer edition marks one year of GHETTO BABES!!

By now we know this vibe is no accident.

We’ll kick things off early in the beautiful Gala Hala Summer Garden with outstanding music, special performances, and a few extra surprises before moving inside for a proper all-night celebration.

This time we’re thrilled to welcome MOLEKULA, Slovenia’s most badass—and unquestionably most ghetto—drag king. The soundtrack for the night will be delivered by high priestess 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐤𝐚, disco princess 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚, footwork specialist 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐧, and, naturally, your favourite spaceship captain, Raketa.

Alongside the music, the evening features a special performance by our beloved Kegljeve vaje crew, while MOLEKULA won’t just be hosting the event—they’ll also bring a performance of their own.

Returning once again is the wonderful crystal artist Eka with her 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐆𝐞𝐦𝐬 corner, where you can decorate your smile with crystal gem sets created especially for this event.

As always, our friends from the 𝐑𝐞𝐣𝐯 𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐣𝐚 Awareness Team (the babes in pink suspenders) will be present throughout the night. MASHARIK

V zadnjih letih so Masharik iz benda, ki ga je bilo treba priporočati, postali bend, ki ga ljudje priporočajo naprej sami. Brez velikih potez in brez pretirane glasnosti – samo z dobrimi komadi, prepoznavnim zvokom in koncerti, po katerih ostane občutek, da si bil pri nečem zares posebnem.

Po skoraj letu dni premora se vračajo v Ljubljano, na Letni vrt Gala hale.

Njihova glasba deluje na več ravneh hkrati. Nevsiljiva, a nalezljiva. Intimna, a z dovolj širine in ritma, da se razleze čez cel prostor. V njej se srečajo instrumentalna dovršenost, večglasje in občutek za dinamiko, zaradi katerega skladbe dihajo kot celota.

A največji adut Masharik ostajajo koncerti. Tam njihova glasba dobi dodatno dimenzijo – ne skozi spektakel ali pompoznost, ampak skozi pristnost. Kot bend delujejo izjemno povezano in ravno v tej uigranosti se zgodi tisti občutek lahkotnosti, ki potrjuje, da gre za enega najbolj dodelanih domačih live bendov ta hip.

Po daljšem premoru bo to ena redkih priložnosti, da jih ponovno ujamemo v Ljubljani. Ker pa poznamo poletni tempo in ker se stvari rade zgodijo hitreje, kot mislimo: ne računat, da bo karta čakala predolgo.

RAPETEK EKSTRA:

LA COKA NOSTRA (ZDA)

Ob okvirni 20. obletnici (resnejšega) delovanja v Ljubljano in v Slovenijo sploh prvič prihaja ameriška superskupina La Coka Nostra. To v najnovejši formaciji sestavljajo: bivši član legendarne skupine House of Pain Danny Boy, Ill Bill, DJ Eclipse (oba iz kultne ekipe Non Phixion) in Slaine.

Predzgodovina gre še malce dlje nazaj. Leta 2004 je La Coka Nostra pomenil ohlapen kolektiv, zbran okoli Dannyja Boya. Po razpadu skupine House Of Pain si je ta vzel čas za raznorazne podvige, v Bostonu pa tudi spoznal Slaina, s katerim je skupaj z DJ Lethalom potem posnel kupček komadov. Projekt je hitro postal še bolj kolektiven, saj so okoli mikrofona krožili še en houseofpainovec Everlast, člani društev Psycho Realm in Special Teamz … Leta 2006 pa se je članstvo končno približno zakoličilo. Prvenec A Brand You Can Trust je z dolgo zamudo le izšel leta 2009, proces pa je med drugim trajal tako dolgo zato, ker Danny Boy ni pristal na to, da bi fantje sodelovali preko emailov, ampak je vztrajal, da ploščo snemajo skupaj, v studiu. Čakanje se je izplačalo, saj gre za izjemno poglavje raperskega podtalja z eminentnimi gosti, kot so Snoop Dogg, Bun B, B-Real in Immortal Technique.

V naslednjih sedmih letih sta sledila še dva albuma – leta 2012 Masters of the Dark Arts z ubijalskim singlom »Mind Your Business«, ki ga je produciral DJ Premier in leta 2016 To Thine Own Self Be True, ki je ponovno nastal s posrečenim izborom gostov in producentov.

La Coka Nostra nikoli ni bila zamišljena kot klasična rap superskupina, preračunljivo sestavljena za jahanje festivalskih odrov. Kolektiv je nastal iz dolgoletnih povezav med bostonsko in newyorško underground rap sceno in stavi na beate, ki so trdi kot dva dni star drek in hardcore rap ostrega uličnega storytellinga, brez cenzure, zato pa z obilico politične paranoje in črnega humorja. Na odru La Coka Nostra ne prodaja nostalgije, ampak podaja koncertno izkušnjo hudo visoke intenzivnosti.
