The animals of the Balkan Spring, delivering a French kiss of pop, rock, folk and jazz.
Zhivotni – “Animals” in Macedonian – were born out of the Balkan Spring, ready to sing about it and reveal at least part of its story. Against genocide, global apartheid, and the toxic, rotten political parties in their country and beyond. We are all animals longing for home. Longing not to have to leave.
(On the Balkans, Alone), released by underground powerhouse Mrtov konj, is the best album of 2025 you’ve probably never heard of, and Zhivotni are the best supergroup you don’t know yet. As they put it themselves, their songs grow only from love, and nothing but love. Their language of pop, rock, folk and jazz is gentle enough to lure you in with an ecstatic French kiss, only to transform into a blade that cuts deep and performs an emotional autopsy of life’s hardships.
Come to Gala Hala to dance, cry, restore your hope, and take the road without “whataboutism,” as Zhivotni call it. Justice for Kočani, for the students in Serbia, an end to nationalism and fratricide in the Balkans, a free Palestine, and liberation for everyone, everything and every place from the brutal grip of capitalism.
The seven-piece band is led by Martin Djorlev (Lufthansa, Stoj, Posle!) alongside a wandering collective of pioneers: Borjan and Filip (Vagina Corporation), Andrej and Aleks (Stoj, Posle!), Ivo (Lufthansa), and Elena Vasova.

To celebrate the 33rd anniversary of Metelkova mesto, Gala Hala welcomes back the Trnovo rascal, ninja shapeshifter, storyteller of street adventures and imaginary horror tales, and master of the microphone—Klemen Klemen!
A firmly established name on the local scene, Klemen Klemen arrives armed with three albums: the best-selling Slovenian rap record of all time, Trnow stajl (2000), its follow-up Hipnoza (2003), and his latest release S3P (2015). Alongside his solo work, he has built an impressive catalogue of collaborations with artists from both the underground and the wider mainstream Slovenian music scene.
As has become tradition in recent years, he returns with the support of a live band, his unmistakable gravelly voice, and an endless supply of Trnovo stories, street legends, and lyrical twists.

Around the 20th anniversary of their more serious activity as a group, American rap supergroup La Coka Nostra are finally making their first-ever appearance in both Ljubljana and Slovenia.
The current line-up features Danny Boy, former member of the legendary House of Pain, alongside Ill Bill and DJ Eclipse (both of cult New York outfit Non Phixion), and Slaine.
The story goes back even further. In 2004, La Coka Nostra began as a loose collective gathered around Danny Boy. Following the breakup of House of Pain, he devoted his time to various projects and, while in Boston, met Slaine. Together with DJ Lethal, they recorded a number of tracks, gradually expanding the project as friends and collaborators from House of Pain, Psycho Realm, Special Teamz, and beyond drifted in and out of the studio.
By 2006, the group’s core line-up had finally taken shape. Their debut album, A Brand You Can Trust, was eventually released in 2009 after years of delays—partly because Danny Boy insisted the record be created together in the studio rather than pieced together over email. The wait proved worthwhile. The album became a landmark of underground hip hop, featuring heavyweight guests including Snoop Dogg, Bun B, B-Real, and Immortal Technique.
Over the following years, the group released two more acclaimed albums: Masters of the Dark Arts (2012), featuring the devastating DJ Premier-produced single “Mind Your Business,” and To Thine Own Self Be True (2016), another powerful record built around an outstanding roster of guest artists and producers.
La Coka Nostra were never conceived as a conventional rap supergroup assembled to headline festivals. Instead, they grew organically from decades-long friendships between the Boston and New York underground hip-hop scenes. Their music is built on beats as hard as concrete and uncompromising street storytelling delivered without censorship, fuelled by political paranoia, black humour, and raw intensity.
On stage, La Coka Nostra don’t trade on nostalgia—they deliver a live show of relentless energy and uncompromising force.
