Ladies and gentlemen, dear lovers of timeless Slovenian tunes – the first Friday of our July Summer Garden has become a tradition dedicated to Slovenska popevka, the golden era of Slovenian pop music.

Get ready for a special summer edition of Zeleno sonce, a one-of-a-kind party that even unsuspecting tourists strolling by inevitably find themselves enjoying, despite having no idea what they’re listening to or where all the excitement comes from. We gather in the Summer Garden at 9 PM, before moving the celebration indoors after midnight.

Zeleno Sonce founders Funkenstein and Udo Brenner will dust off the treasures of Slovenia’s musical heritage, carefully curating an evening of beloved classics spanning from the big band beginnings of the genre to its golden decades in the 1960s and 1970s.

Alongside the best-known hits, they’ll also dig up overlooked gems and forgotten favourites, taking the audience on a journey through the rich history of Slovenian popular music. Expect songs by legendary artists including Marjana Deržaj, Ivo Mojzer, Bele Vrane, Elda Viler, Oto Pestner, Hazard, Berta Ambrož, Jani Kovačič, Pepel in Kri, Neca Falk, Rafko Irgolič, Mladi Levi, Majda Sepe, Magnifico, Bazar, Eva Sršen, Stane Mancini, Gu Gu, Irena Kohont, Tomaž Domicelj, September, Alenka Pinterič, Janko Ropret, and many more.

Hip-shaking alert!

On July 4, BAILE ROOM will officially be declared a zone of uncontrollable movement, where hips, waists, and every muscle in your body will be put to work—and by Sunday, you’ll have no idea why everything hurts.

We kick things off in the Summer Garden, before moving the party indoors around midnight to keep the energy going until late.

The Bambus collective primarily explores the setting of original poetry to music, developing it into a genre-fluid performative and sonic experience. Expect everything from rock and metal to jazz, as well as improvised shifts woven between poetic verses.

Since the release of their debut album Neskončno dolgi pogovori (Endlessly Long Conversations) in July 2024, the collective has been actively performing across Slovenia. The album was released under Dve luni, zavod za poetizacijo sveta, in co-production with KMŠ and KID KIBLA. It features original compositions as well as a reinterpretation of Ta stol by Marko Brecelj, paying tribute to the heritage of musical poetry in Slovenia.

The album was mentored by poet Nina Medved and musician Samo Šalamon, with additional collaborations by Boštjan Gombač, Žan Cesar, and others.

Originally formed as a duo by poet Alja Pušič and musician Gašper Drev, the authors of the album, Bambus later expanded into a full band with drummer Tin Matuš, bassist Maj Husar, and guitarist Jakob Podlesek.
